Facial scrubs comparison

A reader (Thanks Yoonme!) asked me to compare Elementals’ The Great face! Polish to Lemon Bay’s Shea Her Glow.

Facial Scrubs comparison

Both facial scrubs are very different. Elementals’ The Great face! Polish is a natural sugar scrub made of different oils and sugars. It has a nut and cinnamon scent. For the proprieties of each additives, I’ll quote the website: “Rice Powder aids in complexions while coconut powder helps to retain moisture and vital nutrients in the skin. With Cinnamon, Honey, Vitamin E, Grape Seed Oil to fight the signs of aging, Sesame Oil which is a great moisturizer and evens skin tone, Milk, Oatmeal, Apricot Kernel Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Safflower Oil and Sunflower Oil.” Because of the quantity of oil, I think this scrub is better suited for dry skin. I’m sometimes affected by cinnamon infragrances, but I haven’t reacted. I have sensitive skin and I haven’t had any redness, but it is very scrubby, so I don’t apply more than once a week. I’m super happy with this scrub: it is oily and sugar is coarse for a facial product, but it’s effective and moisturizing, plus it looks good enough to eat!

Lemon Bay’s Shea Her Glow is made with Shea butter. Shea is a wonderful product from Africa with a ton of benefits ranging from skin healing, moisturizing and protection. I recommend this article from The West African Trading Company to know more about this miracle butter. This scrub has very fine particles in it so it’s gentle on sensitive skin. It is also very moisturizing, but not oily. Acne skin can also benefit of this scrub because the shea butter helps healing acne spots. Shea Her Glow has a shelf life of 18 months because it contains artificial preservatives. It has a clay smell, so I use it at night followed by a light moisturizer. Recommend usage frequency is once or twice a week. I love that this scrub has so many benefits because of the shea butter and that the name is true to the products, it makes my face glow! Highly recommended.

So as you can see, both are very different. Depending on your skin type and your scrub taste, I’m sure you’ll find one to suits you.

I can’t comment on Lemon Bay’s product, but I have The Great Face! Polish and LOVE it! My skin is so soft – for over a day after use, without requiring any follow-up moisturizing after my scrub. I actually use it on all my troubled spots – elbows and feet. The feet put up a little fight – but it was well worth me working at it! Being allergic to a lot of chemical additives, this is the only scrub that doesn’t cause any kind of irritation for me – I’m thankful to find one that doesn’t! And it does seem a little rough, but I find it a “massaging” benefit – it’s never cause irritation due to the sugar.

Thank you for the comparison! I’m always interested in other products I might be able to try!
